ASTM A335 P5 P9 P11 P22 Studded Tube Heat Exchange System
What is a Studded Tube?
This is a specialized component designed for use in high-temperature and corrosive environments. Unlike finned tubes, which maximize convection surface area, studded tubes are primarily used to secure and protect refractory linings or to facilitate heating in certain furnace types.
Studded tubes are manufactured by welding a series of studs (pins) to the outer surface of a base tube. These studs act as anchors, securing the castable refractory material to the tube surface.
ASTM A335 P5 base tube, combined with studs made from compatible materials, creates a robust system for lining furnaces, boilers, and reactors.

Applications
Studded tubes are essential in the most demanding, high-temperature industrial processes:
Petroleum refining:
Fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) units: Cyclones and plenums in reactors and regenerators.
Steam methane reformer (SMR) furnaces: Components of the radiant walls and roof of the furnace, where process tubes are exposed to intense flames.
Chemical processing: Used in ethylene cracking furnaces and other high-temperature reactors.
