This product series refers to wrought high-strength ferritic steel butt-welding fittings manufactured in accordance with ASME B16.9 standard, with material designation ASTM A860 WPHY42-S. WPHY is an abbreviation for Wrought Pipe High-Yield, where WP stands for "Wrought Pipefitting" and HY stands for "High Yield Steel." The number 42 in the grade indicates that the material's minimum yield strength is 42 ksi (approximately 290 MPa).

This material corresponds to API 5L pipeline steel grade X42, achieving strength matching between fittings and main pipes in piping systems and eliminating weak points in the system. ASTM A860 standard covers six strength grades: WPHY42, WPHY46, WPHY52, WPHY60, WPHY65, and WPHY70, corresponding to API 5L pipeline steel grades X42 to X70, respectively.
